"Relationship Matters: Harnessing the Power of Attachment"
|
|
Event Details
In this one-day seminar, Dr. Neufeld explores the pivotal role of context in personality and behavior: in determining how children react to societal demands, in determining how clients respond to treatment, in determining how students respond to teaching. Context is rarely put into words and as such, has difficulty entering consciousness. As a result, context is often ignored with confusing consequences for all.
According to Dr. Neufeld, the most powerful context is that of relationship. He will present a working model of attachment that applies to all venues and presenting problems.
This seminar is applicable to all those involved in assessment, treatment or education. Although addressed to educators and helping professionals, including physicians, pediatricians, social workers, counselors, therapists and family workers. Although the focus will be on children, the material and the model applies to any age.
Some of the topics addressed will include:
• the roots of resistance and oppositionality and the keys to receptivity
• why the alpha problem is increasing in today’s society
• the roots of aggression and bullying and the implications for treatment
• six stages in becoming attached and the impediments to healthy attachments
• how to cultivate a context of connection between children (or clients) and those responsible for them
• how to preserve a context of connection, especially with troubling children or clients
CEU's will be available for MFT's and LCSW's (pending approval). The cost of this seminar includes handouts, lunch, and snacks.
